November and December mark the ski film release season. Last season, Total Heliski Legend Kent Kreitler was featured in 'McConkey', one of the most revered films of last season. Aptly named 'McConkey' about the extraordinary life of the world’s most celebrated extreme skier, Shane McConkey.
Record-breaking Everest mountaineer, and Total Heliski with Legends’ Programme Legend Kenton Cool has posted a new first by summiting the Ultimate Three Peaks. Kenton and his climbing companion and friend Sherpa Dorje Gylgen successfully climbed Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest the final mountain in the Everest horseshoe surrounding the Western Cwm.
Not only did Kenton break his record of completing his 11th Everest Summit, but the two men have created the record of being the first to achieve the feat of summiting Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse in one trip.
Skiing or boarding a slope with confidence requires good vision of the slope. As we might remember from school science lessons, the visible light spectrum, makes up the familiar colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Light colour is dependent on wavelength, and in overcast or snowy conditions, an overload of blue light bounces around to create what skiers call "flat light."
We know that real life gets in the way, but last season a very small number of our clients, left their run too late to find a suitable heli ski trip. Many of our top-of-their-game operators are up to 3/4 full by the time next years bookings roll around from repeat bookings. This is great for the operator, (and you want to be heli skiing at these popular operators). But it’s harder for busy clients to book a trip of a lifetime.
You’ve had heli skiing/boarding on your bucket list for years? Subscribed to Total Heliski’s newsletter, done some web scouring of locations, have watched countless You Tube videos, think you’ve been financially responsible and can just about justify a heli trip of a lifetime. But how do you actually pull the trigger? Here’s the three easy steps:
Our Total Heliski clients come from all four corners of the world, but they are universally on a search for powder to find fresh tracks guaranteed. And thankfully, that’s what they get at Total Heliski as we send them to the top heli and cat skiing spots all over the world like France, Sweden, Canada, Alaska and The Himalayas.
As winter winds down in the Northern Hemisphere, that can only mean one thing down under- the Chilean and New Zealand heli skiing season is near. Leaves are changing color, the tundra is preparing for winter, and temperatures in the High Andes are dipping into the 30’s (that’s almost zero celcius) at night.
Isn’t the world a better place when love is in the air? Last month, Total Heliski sent newly engaged couple David and Susan off to a romantic log cabin in remote BC Canada for a week of magic heli skiing. David and Susan’s love was kindled on skis, in the hot tub and over wine at dinner, and in their cosy cabin with fireplace.
The temperature’s dropped, winter is coming and it’s time to start planning your heliskiing adventure for this season. And where better to head for inspiration than a ski and snowboard show in your country, packed to the rafters with the latest clothing and equipment, best deals and enthusiastic aficionados ready and willing to share their knowledge.
For our readers in the UK, you all know how much Total Heliski love a party. Our previous Total Heliski Shows are very well attended. Well, we couldn’t help but make a little splash with our arrival over here in the US of A. We are inviting existing and budding heliskiers and boarders to our upcoming event.
The 2012 London Olympic Games have shown the world the efforts some people make to achieve perfection. As the organisers anticipated, it’s been a truly inspirational spectacle for all of us to appreciate and absorb.
At Total Heliski, we believe applying similar aims of perfection to your heli ski holiday this winter can easily be achieved (attaining the physical athleticism perhaps a little more difficult).
