Total Heliski Tours 2012
Record-breaking Everest mountaineer, and Total Heliski with Legends’ Programme Legend Kenton Cool has posted a new first by summiting the Ultimate Three Peaks. Kenton and his climbing companion and friend Sherpa Dorje Gylgen successfully climbed Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest the final mountain in the Everest horseshoe surrounding the Western Cwm.
Not only did Kenton break his record of completing his 11th Everest Summit, but the two men have created the record of being the first to achieve the feat of summiting Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse in one trip.
Skiing or boarding a slope with confidence requires good vision of the slope. As we might remember from school science lessons, the visible light spectrum, makes up the familiar colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Light colour is dependent on wavelength, and in overcast or snowy conditions, an overload of blue light bounces around to create what skiers call “flat light.”
We know that real life gets in the way, but last season a very small number of our clients, left their run too late to find a suitable Heliski trip. Many of our top-of-their-game operators are up to 3/4 full by the time next years bookings roll around from repeat bookings. This is great for the operator, (and you want to be heli skiing at these popular operators). But it’s harder for busy clients to book a trip of a lifetime.
As winter winds down in the Northern Hemisphere, that can only mean one thing down under- the Chilean and New Zealand heli-skiing season is near. Leaves are changing color, the tundra is preparing for winter, and temperatures in the High Andes are dipping into the 30’s (that’s almost zero celcius) at night.
With Valentines Day just around the corner, did you know that you can a buy a Total Heliski gift voucher for heli skiing for your loved one? What better gift than the trip of a lifetime to put the smile on their face and foster the romance? Contact us now.
The temperature’s dropped, winter is coming and it’s time to start planning your heliskiing adventure for this season. And where better to head for inspiration than a ski and snowboard show in your country, packed to the rafters with the latest clothing and equipment, best deals and enthusiastic aficionados ready and willing to share their knowledge.
Want to bring in the New Year with unlimited vertical and small group heli skiing for four days straight? With delicious gourmet meals, knowledgeable and professional guides, fireworks and champagne? Sign up to our New Year trip for a sure-fire way to experiencing the ultimate heli rush, and all this could be yours.
For our readers in the UK, you all know how much Total Heliski love a party. Our previous Total Heliski Shows are very well attended. Well, we couldn’t help but make a little splash with our arrival over here in the US of A. We are inviting existing and budding heliskiers and boarders to our upcoming event.
Think Big, Think High. Make this the year to reach your heli-high this winter in the Himalayas. Check out Total Heliski’s epic trip last season in Hayles Trails. Hayley has heliskied all over the world but nothing prepared her for the mighty, humbling experience of the Himalayas. Even Jeremy Jones wants to go there.
Inspired by Olympic stories of success and triumph, while athletes have been flexing their muscles this summer, the team at Total Heliski have been working diligently preparing for the winter, scoping out some new heliski destinations and experiences, setting up a new office in San Francisco, shark diving – (yes you read correctly), and talking to operators. Some are offering early booking savings so be sure to benefit from these.
The 2012 London Olympic Games have shown the world the efforts some people make to achieve perfection. As the organisers anticipated, it’s been a truly inspirational spectacle for all of us to appreciate and absorb.
At Total Heliski, we believe applying similar aims of perfection to your heliski holiday this winter can easily be achieved (attaining the physical athleticism perhaps a little more difficult). Simply drop us a line and share with us the perfect vision for your off-piste powder adventure. With our global knowledge and connections using the bespoke service Total Heliski offers, we’ll fix your special birthday celebration, buddies bucket list trip, well-earned break from the office or even mountain-inspired, heli-accessed marriage proposal! Any special occasion is worth making perfect.
As our members in the Northern Hemisphere now enjoy long summer days, we reflect on the 2012 heliski season highlights. Winter played a few games with us last season, with snowfalls erratic across both sides of the Atlantic. However Total Heliski managed to run several Member Tours and many clients embarked on their dream winter holiday all over the Northern Hemisphere, including the mighty Himalayas.
Join Samsung in their quest to complete the 1924 Olympic Games Pledge, which was made 88 years ago by mountaineer Lt Col Strutt. He and his fellow team received 21 gold medals for famously attempting to climb Mount Everest, and he pledged that he would take one of the gold medals back to the summit. This pledge is yet to be fulfilled. With your help, Samsung hopes to not only honour this pledge but also find the missing medals from 1924.
In 1922, an expedition made the first attempt to climb Mt. Everest. The tallest peak in the world however remained unconquered. But the story of the bravery of the men who tried this feat spread across the world and they were lauded as heroes. The ultimate honour for these men came at the 1924 Winter Olympic Games, when they were given the Olympic Gold Medals for Mountaineering.
At Total Heliski, we spend a lot of time reinforcing to our clients and members that heli skiing really is not just for experts. The aspects and terrain that you ski will be similar to what you find off-piste in resorts, only accessed by a helicopter, allowing you to ski seemingly endless fresh tracks guaranteed.
However, it goes without saying that heli skiing is also the ultimate experience for expert skier and snowboarders, and we have several opportunities to offer those who seek the steep and deeps later this season.
The group who worked in all aspects of the industry including mobile operators, technology startups, mobile handset manufacturers, media companies and digital agencies, shared their love of powder skiing in the intimate setting of one of the world’s leading small boutique heliski operations. We spent three days heli skiing a combination of the Monashees’ incredible tree skiing combined with their glacial bowls, when the sun was out and it wasn’t snowing. The pictures speak for themselves, don’t you think?
There’s snow in ‘them there hills’ as they say. The term “Gold Rush” usually evokes visions of western movies, cowboys and people arriving in droves in former times to make their fortunes. However, we’ve discovered a different type of gold rush happening in interior BC Canada, where we’ve spent the last two weeks heli and resort skiing, and meeting locals, tourists, resort property owners, and business owners. It’s an influx reminiscent of gold rushes of yesteryears as all have traveled or settled here for the same reason: to seek and exploit the deep, dry, ‘white gold’, that’s pictured here in this recent photo taken by our Northern BC operator. Proving this year again, Canada is the home of ‘Cold Smoke’, having experienced more La Niña effects this year, thus bringing the white gold to those fortunate enough to be here.
Isolated European locations, breathtaking views, fine foods and total immersion in skiing or snowboarding – all this in your choice of degree of luxury. That is what the latest heli-lodge in France offers you. Total Heliski gives you the opportunity to take an inside look into our French operators new heli lodge, a long awaited offering North American style, but with the flair of the Alps.
