Many agree, Alaska (or AK, as the locals call it) is the penultimate heliski location. It’s the destination featured in hundreds of ski films, and home to the World Extreme Skiing Competition since it’s inception. But why?
Alaska boats the highest mountains in North America and the snow and weather conditions allow for a greater number of steeper runs that are safe to ski or snowboard. It’s better suited for expert skiers, but advanced skiers are also welcome.
When it’s on, it’s ON, however, Alaska is also renowned for challenging weather for flying so we recommend people visit for longer stays to ensure they get the skiing they came for. Total Heliski works with operators who can offer a complete heliski holiday experience whether that be because they have lower down days, back up cat skiing or are nestled in a resort so you have the back up options.
Lastly, Alaska has a remote feel and supremely amazing wilderness, where you will likely encounter wildlife during your holiday. But don’t rely on what we say- go see for yourself.
